Running Weather
In summer I think fondly back of how great it was to run in the cool temperatures of winter. When running in the winter I think of how great it was in the summer to be able to go on a run and only wear a t-shirt and shorts. This page is here to remind us of what the other season is really like.
This photo is from the never ending rain we had in Jan 99
Coming back from a one hour run on the track in the rain. It can be pretty tiring to try and run intervals when all your clothes are wet.
The photos below are from the ice storm we had in Jan 98.
Running along the bike path
There were a number of sections with steep downhills. Running down these you didn't want to stop or turn. Just go straight and hope you don't slip.
I wouldn't try this with Nike Air shoes, but I screwed in a number of #6x3/8 screws into an old pair of running shoes and I had great traction on the ice.
Heat is hard to capture on film (well flash memory
actually). The shot below is from one of our lunchtime track interval
runs. This was very early in Sept 98 and the temperature was in the
low 90's. To cool off we drank a lot of water and sprayed ourselves
with the hose. I'm just glad that this weather is rare in Oregon.
Two Tek runners ignoring the heat and finishing one of their one mile interval sets.
